WhatsApp extraction — how to use it in the Studio
Send the WhatsApp export and get the conversations split apart, ready to diagnose and audit. First you analyse for free (preview), then you pick the conversations and extract only the ones you want. Voice notes, stickers, GIFs and emojis are read by AI.
The best path: export WITH media
The analysis is far better when the file brings the media — that is what most people send instead of typing.
- In WhatsApp, open the chat and tap ⋮ (three dots) → More → Export chat.
- Choose INCLUDE MEDIA: that way the AI transcribes voice notes and describes stickers, GIFs, emojis and images.
- Save to Google Drive (tap Drive → Save). Avoid email: large attachments are often trimmed.
- Very long chat: WhatsApp limits the export with media (~10,000 messages). In that case export by period — the text without media (.txt) holds more, but loses audio and stickers.
Step by step in the Studio
- In the Conversation extraction card, drop the .zip (or the .txt without media) on the dashed area — or click it to choose, including straight from Google Drive.
- Click ANALYSE (PREVIEW). Nothing is charged here: it shows the real period, the conversations, the media and the cost.
- Check the period. If needed, adjust it right in the panel (dates, timezone, date format, gap, minimum turns, voice and expressions) and click RE-ANALYSE.
- Don't know the period? Leave the dates as they are (00/00/0000 00:00): that way it analyses the WHOLE FILE.
- Tick the conversations you want (checkbox on each row; the header checkbox ticks all at once). The button already shows the exact total.
- Click EXTRACT SELECTED. Only the ticked conversations are processed and charged.
- Want more conversations later? The panel stays there: click the card title to reopen it, tick others and extract again.
What you can adjust (optional)
Start / EndCuts the period that enters the analysis. Leave 00/00/0000 00:00 in both to analyse the whole file.
Timezone-3 for Brazil time. It only identifies the time of the messages.
Date formatHow the file writes the dates: day_first (Day first, DD/MM/YYYY), month_first (Month first, MM/DD/YYYY) or year_first (Year first, YYYY/MM/DD, common on iPhone).
Gap (min)Pause that separates one conversation from the next. 720 minutes = 12 hours (default).
Min. turnsDrops short conversations, like just "hi" and "bye". Default: 2.
Transcribe voice notesOn, the AI transcribes the audio recorded on the spot. Turn it off to avoid spending credits on audio.
Describe expressionsOn, the AI describes stickers, GIFs, emojis and images. Turn it off to avoid spending credits on them.
Reference (optional)Your own name to find the result later (e.g. 2026-10-01-weekly).
What it costs
- Analysing (preview) is FREE: nothing is charged while you are just looking.
- Flexible billing by volume used.
- Sticker, GIF and emoji description billed by volume — only with Expressions on.
- Voice-note transcription billed by volume — only when the option is on.
- The total appears on the button before you confirm and is added up exactly, with 2 decimal places.
If something goes wrong
- It doesn't look like a WhatsApp export: export again from the Export chat menu (with or without media).
- File too large (over 1 GB): export by period.
- The dates didn't match: check the Date format (Day first / Month first / Year first).
- Conversation too long (over 300,000 characters): analyse by period.
- No conversation showed up: the file may have only short conversations — lower the Minimum turns.
- The file didn't open or came corrupted: download it again from Google Drive (avoid email).
You are responsible for having the consent of the people in the conversation (GDPR/LGPD). Need the technical request (for Postman, Playwright or another system)? Use the "Download request (cURL)" button in the preview and in the extraction of the selected ones — it brings the complete call, just as it was sent.
